In this video Jimmy is talking coffee shop & cafe design with interior designer Natalie Aichroy from Linnea Design Studio in Coffs Harbour. They chat about what's involved from a designers perspective in setting up the perfect cafe when looking at materials, trades, budgets, time frames, architects, layout and more.

They also discuss some of the simpler things a cafe owner can do to freshen up an existing coffee shop. Some of these might include the obvious such as a simple coat of paint or crafting your own pendant light to add detail and a fresh vibe to a space.

It's an interesting conversation with some very useful pieces of advice from Natalie. Anyone who is about to undertake the process of setting up a new cafe should watch this video as it could be quite invaluable to the future success of your business.

00:00:00:05 - 00:00:00:16
Today.

00:00:00:16 - 00:00:06:03
I'm talking to Natalie from Linnea Design about cafe design, both for new cafes

00:00:06:11 - 00:00:10:14
and existing cafes, how to revamp them, how are you, Natalie?

00:00:10:24 - 00:00:13:16
Wonderful thank you. Welcome. Thank you.

00:00:13:18 - 00:00:16:22
Your beautiful home here in Korora on the Coffs Coast.

00:00:17:00 - 00:00:19:13
Thanks so much. Thank you for having us.

00:00:19:19 - 00:00:21:11
Tell us more about what you do

00:00:21:11 - 00:00:23:06
and I guess what you love to do.

00:00:27:11 - 00:00:29:03
So Linnea Design

00:00:29:03 - 00:00:32:05
we're problem solvers, design problem solvers.

00:00:32:06 - 00:00:36:07
And we help rework existing spaces

00:00:36:07 - 00:00:40:07
and new spaces for commercial and residential clients.

00:00:40:16 - 00:00:45:21
And really, we have no limit to how far and wide we go with our scope.

00:00:45:21 - 00:00:47:06
Lovely.

00:00:47:06 - 00:00:50:12
So we're predominantly today focusing on cafes.

00:00:50:17 - 00:00:53:07
Yes. Know that's what our audience is. Yes.

00:00:53:11 - 00:00:56:14
Is loving just learning about cafe design and layout workflow?

00:00:56:15 - 00:01:01:02
Today we're just focusing on design and being cost effective, being time

00:01:01:02 - 00:01:01:24
effective.

00:01:01:24 - 00:01:05:19
So I've got a few questions for you to just pick your brain on.

00:01:05:24 - 00:01:06:20
Lay it on me.

00:01:06:20 - 00:01:07:04
All right.

00:01:07:04 - 00:01:11:09
So straightaway, let's just talk about someone that has a blank canvas

00:01:11:18 - 00:01:12:09
and they're just

00:01:12:09 - 00:01:15:11
wanting to open their Dream Cafe They've seen those beautiful cafes.

00:01:15:11 - 00:01:17:15
They've got that vision in their mind.

00:01:17:15 - 00:01:18:14
Where do you send them?

00:01:18:14 - 00:01:20:24
Or what's your first piece of advice for someone in that point?

00:01:21:01 - 00:01:25:01
So often our point of contact will be at those very early stages,

00:01:25:01 - 00:01:28:04
and we will always recommend that our clients go

00:01:28:04 - 00:01:32:21
and see a professional, be it the one you speaking to myself.

00:01:33:14 - 00:01:37:16
If the space is relatively simple in its scope of works we can work with

00:01:38:05 - 00:01:39:03
in our field.

00:01:40:04 - 00:01:42:08
Alternatively, we might send them to an architect

00:01:42:08 - 00:01:47:09
if there's any structural requirements and drafting or DA applications needed

00:01:47:09 - 00:01:51:17
so we can guide people as to how to start in which professional to start with.

00:01:52:06 - 00:01:55:19
Most instances it starts with with me and us.

00:01:56:01 - 00:01:58:16
And from there we get drafted plans.

00:01:58:16 - 00:01:59:21
We measure the space.

00:01:59:21 - 00:02:05:19
We get accurate detail of the empty box to start filling out detail.

00:02:06:11 - 00:02:10:19
From there, we take a really detailed brief and get to know our client,

00:02:10:19 - 00:02:14:01
sit down and get to know their product, get to know their dreams.

00:02:14:03 - 00:02:16:09
Their clients, their visions.

00:02:16:09 - 00:02:22:04
And we formulate a bit of a mood board and a vibe, if you like, as to

00:02:22:04 - 00:02:26:01
how the café is going to feel, which is equally important as to the look.

00:02:27:10 - 00:02:28:10
And that's where we start.

00:02:28:10 - 00:02:33:10
And that process can take up to a week to get to the right place.

00:02:33:10 - 00:02:35:19
To start padding out the design. Sure.

00:02:35:19 - 00:02:40:10
Is that, a week is I guess, for you getting engaged, is there a kind of

00:02:40:10 - 00:02:43:11
a timeframe that you like people to engage early in the process?

00:02:43:13 - 00:02:45:23
Obviously, you don't want to come in too late.

00:02:45:23 - 00:02:48:09
Yeah, from from the get go is best.

00:02:48:09 - 00:02:52:05
So from the day that you make that decision whether the lease is signed

00:02:52:05 - 00:02:56:11
or not, engaging or sitting down at no cost

00:02:56:11 - 00:03:00:05
with a professional for an hour to see if they're the right person to work with.

00:03:01:08 - 00:03:03:20
From from that very early stage is good.

00:03:03:20 - 00:03:06:22
We're along the the journey with you

00:03:06:22 - 00:03:10:12
that way and any little questions we can help guide you

00:03:10:12 - 00:03:14:10
as to the next stages and help keep you calm through the process.

00:03:14:13 - 00:03:16:19
How much? So they need to know.

00:03:18:10 - 00:03:19:04
They need to know

00:03:19:04 - 00:03:22:23
what they would like the space to be ultimately

00:03:22:23 - 00:03:26:04
but they don't really need to know anything about what's to come.

00:03:26:05 - 00:03:30:08
That's where we help guide them through those those stages.

00:03:30:08 - 00:03:35:18
So creating that mood and that vibe is the first place we start.

00:03:35:18 - 00:03:39:17
And from there the detail comes into place, drafting is done,

00:03:40:02 - 00:03:42:21
and then materiality is placed

00:03:42:22 - 00:03:46:01
and put into each individual area.

00:03:46:14 - 00:03:49:22
What, why, how, where is what we work with next.

00:03:50:07 - 00:03:52:23
Obviously, the the amount of planning and

00:03:53:09 - 00:03:57:21
I guess ideas that they have will then impact everyone else around you.

00:03:57:21 - 00:04:01:17
Are you a part of the other construction and or the other trades that come in.

00:04:01:17 - 00:04:02:19
Absolutely. Yes.

00:04:02:19 - 00:04:06:07
So once the once the design phase is completed

00:04:06:07 - 00:04:10:03
and the materiality is being discussed, the clients have approved it.

00:04:10:13 - 00:04:12:14
They're getting excited about the process.

00:04:13:08 - 00:04:18:04
We can then sit down and meet builders, trades, carpenters,

00:04:18:04 - 00:04:22:12
whatever the space requires and have a group discussion as a team.

00:04:22:23 - 00:04:24:22
And that's that's definitely important.

00:04:24:22 - 00:04:29:02
So schedule of finishes will help the builder to know what's been decided

00:04:29:02 - 00:04:29:14
on. Sure.

00:04:29:14 - 00:04:33:05
From my experience, people that haven't had that plan in place,

00:04:33:18 - 00:04:37:00
I'm very surprised by trades and their turnaround times

00:04:37:00 - 00:04:42:06
and their availability, and how long things just take, the stock

00:04:42:06 - 00:04:45:12
or obviously you're going to help them having, having someone like you at

00:04:45:12 - 00:04:47:13
the helm is going to help to kind of the time frame of.

00:04:47:13 - 00:04:51:17
We can help with, we can help with preliminary costing estimates.

00:04:51:24 - 00:04:54:08
We've got a really good handle on

00:04:54:08 - 00:04:57:02
pricing now, which is constantly changing

00:04:57:10 - 00:05:00:21
in this environment, but we will actually help guide you

00:05:00:21 - 00:05:04:12
through the budget process whether you come to us with a fixed budget

00:05:04:12 - 00:05:09:02
and we work the design around the fixed budget or we work

00:05:09:02 - 00:05:13:20
the design into the budget so the design creates the budget.

00:05:13:23 - 00:05:16:10
Yeah, I think budgets a big word for everyone.

00:05:16:14 - 00:05:17:17
It's always a hard one.

00:05:17:17 - 00:05:21:11
Everyone wishes that there wasn't a certain cap on their, their vision.

00:05:21:13 - 00:05:22:02
Yeah.

00:05:22:02 - 00:05:25:02
But definitely that's something you can talk about early and freely

00:05:25:02 - 00:05:29:04
talk about and, and not like set the bar too high and blow out.

00:05:29:04 - 00:05:29:11
Absolutely.

00:05:29:11 - 00:05:32:04
A lot of people will come into

00:05:32:13 - 00:05:36:04
the design process and they'll have all of these Instagram shots

00:05:36:04 - 00:05:40:13
and not have an understanding of the cost of the material itself.

00:05:40:24 - 00:05:45:03
And then also the installation of that material and we're very realistic.

00:05:45:16 - 00:05:48:07
I have a good handle on what things actually cost.

00:05:48:07 - 00:05:53:16
And, you know, if you come to me and say I have I have $2,000, what can we do?

00:05:54:02 - 00:05:57:20
I'm not going to give you a job that's going to cost 25.

00:05:57:22 - 00:06:00:07
Yeah, that, that's part of what we do as well.

00:06:00:14 - 00:06:01:20
Yeah. Cool. Is there any,

00:06:02:19 - 00:06:04:20
I guess no goes in that space or

00:06:04:20 - 00:06:07:03
where have you seen it go wrong as far as people?

00:06:07:10 - 00:06:08:13
Absolutely.

00:06:08:13 - 00:06:12:18
There's always blowouts and I find that those blowouts come

00:06:12:18 - 00:06:16:01
in, the lack of planning from the, the early stages.

00:06:16:02 - 00:06:21:00
So having detailed drawings, including joinery, for the space,

00:06:21:08 - 00:06:25:05
any detail that's required to store merchandise

00:06:25:05 - 00:06:29:03
to do whatever the space needs to should be drafted and detailed

00:06:29:03 - 00:06:32:24
from the beginning before a trade is set foot on site.

00:06:33:24 - 00:06:37:24
Sort of ad hoc will cost people money along the way.

00:06:37:24 - 00:06:38:07
Sure.

00:06:38:07 - 00:06:43:20
So we spend a lot of time, bench layouts, coffee machines, where to cut holes,

00:06:43:20 - 00:06:47:24
where to the positioning of the equipment based on the workflow.

00:06:49:03 - 00:06:51:23
I guess is that something that you would talk to them about?

00:06:51:23 - 00:06:54:06
Yeah absolutely. So spacial planning.

00:06:55:04 - 00:07:00:05
Again, that comes with the drawn plan as to how the space works.

00:07:00:05 - 00:07:02:12
We do rely on the expertize of

00:07:04:08 - 00:07:05:09
small café

00:07:05:09 - 00:07:07:17
kitchen specialists if we need to.

00:07:08:12 - 00:07:11:15
Baristas obviously have a particular flow, which I know you've talked

00:07:11:15 - 00:07:13:15
about in other YouTube videos.

00:07:13:15 - 00:07:15:02
Where to put the sink.

00:07:15:02 - 00:07:19:21
We would be guided somewhat by that, but yeah spacial flow,

00:07:19:22 - 00:07:24:05
making sure that the space is easy for clients to access and exit,

00:07:24:17 - 00:07:28:09
making sure that baristas can deliver coffee easily.

00:07:28:22 - 00:07:31:11
Yeah, that's all a major part of it.

00:07:31:11 - 00:07:34:13
So obviously there's a whole lot of people that are out there with their cafes,

00:07:34:13 - 00:07:35:21
they've probably been in them for,

00:07:35:21 - 00:07:39:16
they could be in them for a year or two or ten and they might be looking

00:07:39:16 - 00:07:40:24
a little bit tired.

00:07:40:24 - 00:07:45:02
Maybe they're ready for a little bit of a revamp, but they don't I don't know,

00:07:45:15 - 00:07:47:23
like maybe they've got a budget maybe there to,

00:07:48:10 - 00:07:51:05
you know, where's their hard earned cash going to go?

00:07:51:15 - 00:07:55:17
Is there I guess, give us your top five kind of things that you would say

00:07:55:17 - 00:08:00:14
is a good focus areas to get the most bang for you buck. Yep.

00:08:00:14 - 00:08:04:18
So a lot of most people these days have a budget we all kind of have budgets

00:08:05:03 - 00:08:08:05
and sitting down engaging a designer

00:08:08:05 - 00:08:12:03
on an hourly basis that you can call on as you need them

00:08:12:03 - 00:08:14:19
throughout the process is a good investment.

00:08:15:05 - 00:08:17:04
Say that I am one. Sure. It's what I do

00:08:18:04 - 00:08:19:04
and that might cost

00:08:19:04 - 00:08:22:07
you a small portion of what you've got to spend

00:08:22:08 - 00:08:25:07
and that will then be guiding the paint colour.

00:08:25:08 - 00:08:28:06
Paints a huge one. It's really accessible.

00:08:28:06 - 00:08:30:08
You can do it yourself.

00:08:30:08 - 00:08:33:02
There's lots of options in terms of no VOC,

00:08:33:02 - 00:08:36:23
which is no chemical compound, so there's no paint smells

00:08:37:21 - 00:08:40:04
if you need a really quick turnaround overnight.

00:08:40:04 - 00:08:43:22
So repainting, cleaning is a big one.

00:08:44:06 - 00:08:48:11
Adding a beautiful pendant light that hasn't been in the space before,

00:08:49:10 - 00:08:52:06
refurbishing furniture, adding new stools.

00:08:52:07 - 00:08:56:02
There's lots of things that can be done that are simple and easy,

00:08:56:02 - 00:08:59:14
quick and effective and cost cost effective that you can do.

00:08:59:14 - 00:09:02:04
Sure. Is

00:09:03:24 - 00:09:06:22
there, is there things that you see people doing themselves

00:09:06:22 - 00:09:08:01
or getting handier like painting.

00:09:08:01 - 00:09:10:01
Getting their hands dirty?

00:09:10:01 - 00:09:11:15
Is it really just.

00:09:11:15 - 00:09:11:24
Absolutely.

00:09:11:24 - 00:09:14:05
Do you work, work hands on with them?

00:09:14:05 - 00:09:16:12
I mean, they're going to be a part of the trades, I guess, to

00:09:16:14 - 00:09:17:23
to make the most of the time.

00:09:17:23 - 00:09:18:24
I think there's some things

00:09:18:24 - 00:09:23:08
that people can do easily and things that people shouldn't do.

00:09:23:08 - 00:09:25:14
Sure. Definitely electricals one of those.

00:09:26:03 - 00:09:29:22
So another thing you can do that that will allow a really fast cost

00:09:29:22 - 00:09:34:17
effective refurb is zip to Bunnings buy some beautiful greenery.

00:09:34:17 - 00:09:35:07
Sure.

00:09:35:07 - 00:09:40:08
Hanging plants, large established plants, they are affordable, sensible,

00:09:40:16 - 00:09:44:11
you can do them immediately and they freshen up the space.

00:09:44:11 - 00:09:48:13
They make people feel that the space is clean, new, tidy

00:09:49:08 - 00:09:52:03
and that's a really easy thing to do that you can do yourself.

00:09:52:03 - 00:09:52:11
Yeah great.

00:09:53:15 - 00:09:54:11
Highlighting any

00:09:54:11 - 00:09:57:02
corners that are a little bit dark and dank,

00:09:57:11 - 00:10:01:12
you can add some new lighting, feature lighting.

00:10:01:13 - 00:10:02:03
Yeah.

00:10:02:03 - 00:10:05:08
Hand make a pendant light if your crafty.

00:10:05:20 - 00:10:07:22
Or zip in and buy something.

00:10:07:22 - 00:10:11:05
And if there's no wiring in a position that needs lighting.

00:10:12:05 - 00:10:14:20
I love nothing more than exposing a conduit

00:10:14:20 - 00:10:18:11
and allowing the space to be honest and natural.

00:10:18:20 - 00:10:20:15
So that's a good tip.

00:10:20:15 - 00:10:21:06
Yeah great.

00:10:22:09 - 00:10:26:00
I also think it's, it's really lovely at the end of this process,

00:10:26:00 - 00:10:29:24
which can be quite stressful for cafe owners.

00:10:30:00 - 00:10:34:12
Staff alike, anyone that's chipping in a hand to show your appreciation.

00:10:35:00 - 00:10:37:20
Have a little do. Announce the revamp. Yeah.

00:10:38:02 - 00:10:41:12
And have a little staff party before you open the doors the next day,

00:10:42:14 - 00:10:44:04
that's a beautiful thing to do.

00:10:44:04 - 00:10:47:23
It adds good vibe into the space and you're off.

00:10:48:02 - 00:10:49:19
That's cool. I like that.

00:10:49:19 - 00:10:50:08
That's good.

00:10:50:08 - 00:10:54:07
So I guess from, from a modern cafe point of view, obviously

00:10:54:07 - 00:10:58:21
people got the Instagram photos they bring in right now.

00:11:00:02 - 00:11:01:07
2022 Is

00:11:01:07 - 00:11:04:07
there any, any particular hot things that everyone's doing?

00:11:04:07 - 00:11:08:05
Is there any go to moves that you're seeing in these cafes right now?

00:11:08:08 - 00:11:11:00
Absolutely. There's, there's a lot of white going on.

00:11:11:00 - 00:11:11:14
Yeah, we love white.

00:11:11:14 - 00:11:13:20
A lot of white, white is great.

00:11:14:15 - 00:11:18:09
It's easy, but there are a lot of whites so again.

00:11:18:13 - 00:11:18:21
Oh sure.

00:11:18:21 - 00:11:24:14
So getting that perfect white, it is not as easy and can traumatize some people.

00:11:24:14 - 00:11:29:05
Definitely white, a lot of greenery, a lot of honest materiality.

00:11:29:05 - 00:11:31:22
So people are starting to

00:11:31:22 - 00:11:34:20
rather than clad over something that they previously may have,

00:11:35:08 - 00:11:40:10
they're actually tidying it up and using that peice and I found

00:11:40:10 - 00:11:45:10
people are looking for interesting spaces that tell a story at the moment

00:11:45:10 - 00:11:47:06
or trying to create some sort

00:11:47:06 - 00:11:50:22
of storytelling vibe within a space that maybe is a little bit boring.

00:11:51:07 - 00:11:52:13
So that's something I'm seeing.

00:11:52:13 - 00:11:56:07
They're try to give a little bit of theater to a space in it's

00:11:56:07 - 00:11:59:09
simplicity so that it's not just food and coffee.

00:12:00:02 - 00:12:03:08
It's an experience that you'll actually tell a friend about,

00:12:03:17 - 00:12:07:20
and then you'll be a repeat customer and they'll bring all of their friends so.

00:12:07:21 - 00:12:09:14
Yeah, I'm, I'm all for that.

00:12:09:14 - 00:12:11:10
I feel like I, I definitely personally

00:12:11:10 - 00:12:15:12
go to cafes that have a good vibe or a good look and feel about them.

00:12:15:17 - 00:12:16:12
I'm always

00:12:17:21 - 00:12:18:23
inspired by them.

00:12:18:23 - 00:12:19:13
Yeah.

00:12:19:13 - 00:12:24:02
And you know, when we help open cafes and stuff and they've done a new fit out,

00:12:24:02 - 00:12:28:14
people are just so attracted to that new space and in awe of it.

00:12:29:01 - 00:12:31:01
So as much as we love coffee,

00:12:31:01 - 00:12:33:24
we love all the niceties that come with sitting in a cafe.

00:12:35:05 - 00:12:38:10
I think the design has a far bigger effect than most people

00:12:38:12 - 00:12:42:02
actually realize that has on them personally, whether they notice it or not,

00:12:42:18 - 00:12:45:05
whether it's their daily cup of coffee and they're just running in and out

00:12:45:05 - 00:12:45:21
the door.

00:12:45:21 - 00:12:50:00
You know, there's the combination of the right barista, the right coffee,

00:12:50:21 - 00:12:54:20
but the right design and the right feel and that portrays the owners and the

00:12:54:21 - 00:12:55:19
and the staff well.

00:12:55:19 - 00:12:58:02
Yeah, I think it's it's a good combination.

00:12:58:02 - 00:12:59:13
I think it's an integral part

00:12:59:13 - 00:13:02:15
of part of the ingredients to a really successful cafe.

00:13:02:15 - 00:13:07:10
So people will stop if they see a space that looks inviting.

00:13:07:10 - 00:13:12:08
Looks interesting, they will stop and be engaged.

00:13:12:11 - 00:13:14:21
I think I appreciate the effort you've put into it too.

00:13:15:09 - 00:13:18:00
And you can tell when people put the effort in, they've engaged

00:13:18:12 - 00:13:22:11
with someone like yourself to to put the extra time in and work in.

00:13:22:11 - 00:13:27:03
People are far more these days, people are far more educated due

00:13:27:03 - 00:13:31:03
to Instagram, due to magazines, books, TV shows,

00:13:31:03 - 00:13:35:08
whatever it be as to how you can work a space.

00:13:35:08 - 00:13:41:01
So I get people coming to me and they have a fully informed idea of what they want.

00:13:41:02 - 00:13:41:14
Yeah.

00:13:41:23 - 00:13:44:02
They just don't necessarily have the how.

00:13:44:02 - 00:13:44:15
Yeah.

00:13:44:15 - 00:13:50:07
And that combining of actual materials, the addition of who to work with locally,

00:13:50:12 - 00:13:53:19
who's best at doing a particular type of work.

00:13:54:13 - 00:13:59:06
A lot of builders will specialize in certain types of building.

00:13:59:15 - 00:14:02:06
So that's another thing we can we can help with along the way.

00:14:02:17 - 00:14:04:06
So we love our white space?

00:14:04:06 - 00:14:08:03
Is there any any things that you can do to kind of break it up

00:14:08:03 - 00:14:10:10
and add more character, whether it's murals or artwork or

00:14:10:21 - 00:14:14:09
some other ideas to once they've painted, or that maybe they do have a

00:14:15:10 - 00:14:16:16
fresh white cafe what's next?

00:14:16:16 - 00:14:17:13
Is there other things? Yeah.

00:14:17:13 - 00:14:22:11
So repainting or having a white wall is an opportunity to add detail.

00:14:22:11 - 00:14:24:19
So there's many things you can do.

00:14:25:05 - 00:14:28:19
Adding back to the theater of a space and creating

00:14:29:19 - 00:14:32:14
interest that's not just food and coffee.

00:14:32:22 - 00:14:37:15
You can get an artist, engage an artist to to paint a mural in the space

00:14:37:15 - 00:14:42:15
that has something behind the owners of the cafe, reinvigorates the branding,

00:14:43:12 - 00:14:47:15
so it could be a mural that's painted in situ while the cafe is open.

00:14:47:24 - 00:14:52:04
It could be a mural that's painted and then printed on to commercial

00:14:52:04 - 00:14:54:22
vinyl wallpaper if it's a very busy area.

00:14:55:19 - 00:14:58:06
It could be wall cladding, it could be tiled.

00:14:58:20 - 00:14:59:16
Yeah.

00:14:59:16 - 00:15:02:03
Repainting a wall is an opportunity to revisit

00:15:02:06 - 00:15:05:21
that blank wall and whether it is perfect for.

00:15:05:24 - 00:15:07:02
Yeah. Something else.

00:15:07:02 - 00:15:08:07
Is that something that you find

00:15:08:07 - 00:15:12:10
just in people's character, whether they break out into color and,

00:15:12:10 - 00:15:16:01
and go out there or the artworks they choose, is that personal preference

00:15:16:01 - 00:15:17:00
or is there like,

00:15:17:00 - 00:15:20:24
no, there's, there's a lot of psychology involved in getting to know

00:15:20:24 - 00:15:22:22
the person your working with. Sure.

00:15:22:22 - 00:15:27:06
And after many years, we as designers do this quite quickly because we have to.

00:15:27:13 - 00:15:27:18
Yeah.

00:15:27:18 - 00:15:31:22
And you will tell if someone is a natural tonal

00:15:31:22 - 00:15:36:18
or soft white beige tone on tone brass copper.

00:15:37:04 - 00:15:38:13
We will know immediately

00:15:38:13 - 00:15:42:08
if there's someone who wants vigor, excitement, color action.

00:15:42:12 - 00:15:44:23
Yeah I will know almost.

00:15:45:04 - 00:15:46:11
You can do all of that tastefully?

00:15:47:12 - 00:15:48:11
Yeah, I've

00:15:48:11 - 00:15:52:05
seen those things happen and they don't always pull it off.

00:15:52:09 - 00:15:52:19
Yeah.

00:15:52:19 - 00:15:56:21
So there are definitely subtle ways to talk to people

00:15:56:21 - 00:16:00:24
about an idea that isn't possibly so good that they're very passionate about.

00:16:00:24 - 00:16:01:21
Sure.

00:16:02:00 - 00:16:04:15
And it might be that there's husband and wife

00:16:04:15 - 00:16:07:22
that are in a business and they both have quite different ideas

00:16:07:22 - 00:16:11:17
and having a designer there to help to funnel

00:16:11:17 - 00:16:16:21
through some of those options also helps with refining the design.

00:16:16:21 - 00:16:18:23
And crucial part of the desing. A beautiful space.

00:16:19:04 - 00:16:21:11
Yeah, keeping everyone happy for sure.

00:16:21:13 - 00:16:23:07
Yeah, yeah, definitely.

00:16:23:07 - 00:16:24:01
Great.

00:16:24:05 - 00:16:26:10
Well, I think I've learned plenty. Cool.

00:16:26:19 - 00:16:30:14
I'd love to design my own cafe, but I'm lucky enough that I get to work

00:16:30:15 - 00:16:32:18
a lot of people that do. So. Amazing.

00:16:32:18 - 00:16:34:22
I get to spend their money not mine. Perfect.

00:16:34:22 - 00:16:38:07
